Recycle all you can, not only are you saving the environment but you are also saving money on refuse collection.   Energy saving light bulbs may cost more but they last much longer and use very little electricity than regular lightbulbs, so in the long run they actually save you money.

There are many ways to incorporate green living into your design.

When planning a new kitchen layout try to facilitate storage for recycling. Consider using a pull out bin unit with different compartments for glass, paper, plastic, cans, and organic waste.

Try to use natural materials in the home where possible, such as wood, linoleum, cork, Hessian and organic paint. They usually cost more but health is wealth!

Fit a water filter where required to prolong the life of some appliances. A dual flush toilet system will reduce water wastage.

Consider the energy rating on electrical appliances before buying and fit energy saving light bulbs.

Save money by including good insulation in your home. Insulating the water tank will ensures the heat is not lost and using timer devices on the heating system will also improve their efficiency.
