Lighting

There are many creative ways of getting the most of your lighting and dramatically improving the ambience in your home. Match your colour scheme with your choice of lighting. Light coloured surfaces reflect light and so need less light whereas dark wood and fabric tend to soak up the light and need more light to compensate. Ensure your light switches are well positioned. Who hasn't had the experience of entering a dark room and fumbling for a light switch. The normal position for the switch is just inside the door at shoulder height. If the room has more than one door there should be a switch by each. Consider the natural light of a room. This will be determined by the orientation of a room combined with the size of your windows. |

Create a feeling of warmth with mood lighting and don't forget the unique atmosphere created by candles. They really do create a great mood for parties, romantic dinners, or just chilling out with your favorite CD. Use light from more than one direction to create a more interesting feeling in your room. Vertical and horizontal lighting will create a more rounded distribution. |
