Big ideas for small spaces
Its always a great challenge making more out of something small. Also allow as much circulation space as possible by the door to give a first impression of space. Place a large mirror opposite or adjacent to the window which will bounce more light into the room. Streamline your window with blinds rather than curtains. Choose compact furniture for the room and place it as neatly as possible. Furniture with legs rather than solid pieces will give the illusion of more floor space. If a room is small sized use lighter colouring, as darker colours can make a room look smaller. This applies equally to decor, flooring and furnishing. |

In a room horizontal stripes will give a sense of width to the room and using long shelves or a couple of painted stripes will give the appearance of length. Use built in shelving or wall cupboards to free up floor space rather than freestanding units. Keep the flooring neutral and try not to break it up with rugs. |
