Do I need a special printer?

No, it is designed to work on any regular at home printer. Normally A4 or letter size will be the default size, either of these works.

Is this the same as your magnetic House Design Kit?

What Scale is it?

The same as our bestselling House Design Kit it is 1:33 scale. We chose the scale to be large enough to be clear and easy to work with but not so big that you cannot plan at your kitchen table.

What do I need to get started?

A printer & a scissors. That's it You can use a glue stick to hold some pieces in place, but that is optional.

I struggle to read architectural plans - will this work for me?

It was quite literally made for you. It was designed by Katie Galvin, who spent over 20 years working for architects making scale models so people could understand complex plans. With a background in graphic design and years of architectural experience, she realised that by converting complex plans into more user friendly graphic symbols non-designers could see the important information without being bamboozled by the stuff that is not needed at concept and planning stage.

3 Steps To Plan Your Perfect Kitchen

1. Start with the original kitchen plan and try to work out the problem areas and why they don't work.

Your kit will include people templates. These show the circulation space or flow of your kitchen. If you can identify what is not working you can fix it and not repeat the same mistakes.

2. Using the old plan start to move the walls, appliances and furniture templates and reveal a new layout for your kitchen in minutes.

The templates are designed to be graphic and easy to read, but all to scale. Non-designers can understand their plans as easily as seasoned designers.

3. Talk through the plans with friends & family. Get feedback, brainstorm your space and collaborate and share ideas quickly. Remember there are no crazy ideas at the brainstorming stage. Thinking outside the box can unlock some great workable ideas.

Good design is about finding the best plan and then applying the budget constraints to it. It rarely starts with the budget and limiting the ideas from the outset. Have some fun with the space first and refine later.
